Application : Direct manipulation database browsing and editingSo far the user interface of most enterprise-critical databases is essentially accessed via forms and list based user interfaces. Users perform specific queries, retrieve some items of interested and edit them in a form. While functional for many purposes, this type of interaction does not let users get a global view of the data at hand to perform their editing tasks. What is needed is a browsing interface, in which the user can navigate toward the items of interests and perform activity-specific in-context editing. This "browse and edit" approach revolutionizes the way many critical information systems can be managed and edited by end users. The direct data editing example pages show you various kinds of analyses that have been performed using ILOG Discovery in a variety of business contexts. |
