Besides coloring and sorting, the most common attributes we will want to assign are coordinates of graphic primitives. In the default settings, each data object is assigned a single rectangular shape, and all objects are layed out on a grid. To obtain a regular 2D graph, I can choose to assign two columns, for instance “latitude” and “longitude” to, respectively, the x and y coordinates of these rectangles:

As seen in the first walkthrough, we can refine the graph to show scales, add some margins, have variable-width rectangles, add transparency and change the shapes to ellipses. We duplicate the view and create a new view, as we will have some use for the base 2D graph:
